Nate Manic

Nate has honed his DJ skills among some of the world’s best and brightest over a career now spanning 20+ years. Originally getting his start in Madison, WI as a product of the mid-90’s Midwest Rave scene, he moved onto Chicago in 2000 where he would make a deep impact over the next 14 years. Things took off quickly for his DJ career once he moved there with invites to DJ in locales around the globe including Hawaii, London and venues scattered around the US. He also built his name as a long-time member of the Midwest Burning Man community and an early resident for Chicago’s now-legendary Freakeasy- an honor dating back to 2008.

Most notably in Chicago he established an impressive legacy as the head Talent Buyer and Music Director for the legendary Chicago institution Smart Bar (2009-2013). His contributions there include the creation of Smartbar’s Sunday night party Queen! featuring residents Michael Serafini, Garrett David, Derrick Carter and the late Frankie Knuckles as well as the creation of their yearly Movement pre-party and BBQ at TV Lounge, Detroit and countless Chicago debuts of some of the world’s most notable DJs.

He now lives in Oakland and gives private DJ lessons for the West Oakland DJ Academy as well as enjoying regular guest spots around the Bay Area. He has also taken on management of a small roster of very talented Bay-Area-based artists, passing on his knowledge and experience to help nurture a new generation of DJs in the Bay Area and assist those looking to get maximum enjoyment from their careers. His sets are energetic and dynamic, spanning all genres of Underground Electronic music including Acid House, Techno, House, Breaks and Disco.
