Mercury Soul came to the 930 Club for a groovy collision of DJing, classical pop-ups, and immersive production. This show was a collaborative production between the Kennedy Center's KC Jukebox series and the 930 Club. This visceral "classical rave" featured D.C. premieres of works by Derek Bermel, Ted Hearne, Jennifer Higdon, Missy Mazzoli, and Bates himself, who does double duty as house DJ alongside DJ Derek Hena from the Pink Mammoth Burning Man Camp and DJ Justin Reed of Chicago’s illmeasures collective.
This event was part of the Kennedy Center's inagural DIRECT CURRENT festival --an immersive showcase for cutting-edge contemporary arts and culture with a focus on interdisciplinary creations.
