Baroque and Beats 2017
Mercury Soul brought Baroque & Beats to San Francisco’s DNA Lounge in 2017 to show our fans the wilder side of baroque music. Tightly interwoven with DJ sets, our musicians will perform masterworks as part of a gorgeous, multimedia-infused concert brought together the worlds of classical music and EDM/electronica.
Conductor Chad Goodman led members of the incredible Philharmonia Baroque performing Vivaldi’s dance of madness, La Folia, the raucous A Gran Battaglia by Uccellini, and Falconieri’s Sonata detta L’infante archibizzarra. Elevate Ensemble will be playing Vivaldi’s joyfully regal Concerto for Two Trumpets, and two works by Samuel Schedit: Canzona Bergamasca and the rallying battlecry Galliard Battalia. The San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Baroque Ensemble performing living composer Christopher Theofanidis’ Baroque-inspired Muse, Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3 in C major, and the effervescent Concerti for Strings in A and C Major (RV 160 & 109 respectively) by Vivaldi."
